Full spectrum cameras have a distinct advantage over regular cameras for
ghost hunting. When used in dark or low light conditions (preferred by ghosts),
the camera should be used in conjunction with an Infrared or full spectrum light
source (battery or A/C powered IR illuminator) with the flash unit turned off.
This will allow the user to take photos in dark conditions without using visible
light from the flash: To the camera, it will look like daylight (similar to Sony
Night Shot video camcorders). Because the camera's flash unit is not used, it
becomes difficult to capture false orbs caused by dust, moisture and insects.
